The basics:
Cook up some green beans and toss with toasted almonds, lemon, salt and pepper.
The suggestion:
-two handfuls green beans, ends cut off
-half a lemon
-salt
-pepper
-handful sliced almonds
-1 or 2 tsp butter
In a large pot, bring about 5 cups salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they start to pop. Drain the water and move on to the next step.
Once you put beans in the pot, put a small pan on medium high heat with butter. Toast the almonds (I slice mine myself, but you can buy them sliced) for 2-3 minutes, or until you can smell toasting nuts. Add the cooked green beans, lemon juice, salt, and pepper and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring to coat the beans in butter and lemon.
The options:
You will find that toasted almonds are absolutely delicious. This is a nice healthy snack, or could be used as a veggie for almost any meal. Another great option for green beans is to add balsamic vinegar to them. You could use these beans in this salmon recipe, as a side for this steak, or even with this chicken.
