The basics:
Even if you can't bake to save your life, you can make this quick and easy cornbread. Just make sure to mix the dry and wet ingredients separately at first.
The suggestion:
-3/4 cup cornmeal
-1 1/4 cup flour
-1/4 cup sugar
-1/2 tsp salt
-2 tsp baking powder
-1 egg, beaten
-1 cup milk
-1/4 cup vegetable oil
-1 1/4 cup flour
-1/4 cup sugar
-1/2 tsp salt
-2 tsp baking powder
-1 egg, beaten
-1 cup milk
-1/4 cup vegetable oil
Combine dry ingredients. In separate bowl, combine milk, oil, and egg. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Pour into greased 8x8 baking pan. Bake 20-25 minutes at 400F or until light golden brown.
The options:
You could add other ingredients to this recipe, like corn or jalapeno. Cornbread always goes well with beef stew or chili.
